To most people, acne is an issue that needs to be handled immediately. Basically, this skin disorder develops on almost all people, especially on teenagers. This is why skin products are in boom even though they are not as effective as they should be. Like every disease, acne should only be treatment prior to understanding its causes. So, what causes skin to develop acne?

For some people, acne can be defined as an inflammatory of the skin resulted from the imbalance of hormones in the system. This means acne is an effect due to the disturbance on the hormonal balance especially on the male hormones, the testosterone.

During puberty, the body begins to manufacture testosterone and thus the skin is greatly at risk to acne. The reason for this is the body begins to secrete bodily oil after it produces testosterone. Too much secretion can cause clogging on the skin pores and thus the formation of acne.

There is an overproduction of skin cells on the body. Retention hyperkeratosis is one of the reasons of overproduction of skin cells. In this situation, the skin is more vulnerable to acne because it cannot discard dead skin cells properly.

There is a building up of dirt and bacteria on the skin. Pollution in the air can cause growth of bacteria on the skin. The dirt and bacteria can infect and irritate the skin causing the formation of acne.

In some situations, the root of the problem is serious. Severe cystic acne is developed if the causes are serious. This acne appears so dreadful and quite alarming.

Severe cystic acne is not just a result of clogging up of oil, dirt and bacteria in the skin. Ugly bumps are formed because the barrier on the skin is badly affected. This acne is difficult to treat because dirt, oil and bacteria are deeply embedded and thus skin treatment products can’t reach the problem.

Also, bacteria inside the severe cystic acne reproduce faster than normal because there is a supply of food for the bacteria deep within the skin. For treating severe cystic acne, consultation with a doctor is necessary.
